Build an inventory exception report

An exception list is more useful than a generic stock summary when the next action depends on specific rules. Define reorder and data-quality conditions independently.

Prepare the workbook

Keep an unchanged source copy and explain column meanings, units and date boundaries. Use a spreadsheet or data role with compatible local tools, or the prepared sandbox. Ask for a rejected-row report instead of silently deleting inconvenient records. OfficeCubs text previews do not recalculate formulas; open the final workbook in a spreadsheet application and check representative formulas and totals.

Inputs for this workflow: inventory.csv with sku, on_hand, reorder_point and last_count_date.

Work through the task

  1. Check required fields and duplicate SKUs.
  2. Apply the approved reorder rule and flag stale counts.

A brief you can adapt

Write inventory-exceptions.xlsx with rule, sku, source values and review_note. Separate low stock from missing or stale data. Do not create purchase orders.

The filenames above are examples. Replace them with your actual inputs and destination before submitting the task.

Review the deliverable

Manually inspect a SKU exactly at its threshold and one with no recent count.

Where this approach can fail

A recommendation based on stale stock is not an approved purchasing instruction.
