Why can a local task not create DOCX or XLSX files?

Local-folder mode relies on tools already installed on your computer.

Local-folder mode relies on tools already installed on your computer. The desktop installer does not bundle Python or Microsoft Office, so document generation may fail when dependencies are absent.

Before you begin

A workspace determines where a teammate executes work and saves files. The environment is captured with a task, so changing a teammate later does not rewrite an earlier task. Local execution and Docker isolation have different permissions; read the selected mode before submitting real project data.

Steps

  1. Read the missing-tool error in the task events.
  2. Check the local document-generation environment.
  3. Use the prepared sandbox if its included libraries fit the task.

Example

A text file renamed report.docx is not a Word document. Ask the tool to report missing dependencies instead of disguising a different format.

Check the result

Open the generated file in its normal application and inspect structure, text and formatting.

Limits and troubleshooting

The sandbox includes document libraries, but rendering and spreadsheet recalculation still depend on available tools. Do not claim checks that were not performed.
