Audit a draft's claims against its sources
A claim audit separates supported statements from unsupported additions.
OfficeCubs · · 2 min read
A claim audit separates supported statements from unsupported additions. Use exact passages so a reviewer can see why the draft needs correction.
Define the evidence boundary
Give the research teammate a bounded set of documents or an explicit source scope. Request references next to claims and keep observation separate from interpretation. An AI summary is not independent verification of a source. Where live web access is unavailable, work from the supplied snapshot and label its date rather than describing the findings as current.
Inputs for this workflow: A draft report and its cited source packet.
Work through the task
- Extract factual claims from the draft.
- Match each to a source passage or mark it unsupported.
A brief you can adapt
Create claim-audit.csv with draft location, claim, supporting passage and status. Distinguish contradiction from missing evidence.
The filenames above are examples. Replace them with your actual inputs and destination before submitting the task.
Review the deliverable
Check every high-impact claim manually and revise wording that is stronger than its source.
Where this approach can fail
The tool finding a similar sentence is not proof that the source supports the same causal or quantitative claim.
