Write chart-slide captions that explain the evidence
A caption should identify the comparison, period and unit before interpreting the pattern.

A caption should identify the comparison, period and unit before interpreting the pattern. It should not claim a cause that the chart cannot establish.
Prepare the slide brief
Supply the audience, decision to support, time available and approved source material. Ask for a content outline before detailed slide production when the story is still uncertain. Generating PPTX requires compatible tools. Review the original presentation and, when rendering tools are available, inspect slide images for clipping and small text; text extraction alone cannot verify a deck.
Inputs for this workflow: A chart and its underlying approved data table.
Work through the task
- Read axes and data coverage.
- Write the main observation with an explicit qualifier.
A brief you can adapt
Draft three caption options: descriptive, decision-focused and cautious. Each must name the period and preserve the unit; list unsupported causal claims separately.
The filenames above are examples. Replace them with your actual inputs and destination before submitting the task.
Review the deliverable
Compare the chosen wording with the actual plotted values and the source data’s limitations.
Where this approach can fail
Correlation in the supplied chart is not proof of a cause.
