Turn a presentation into a useful handout

A handout is a document for later reading, not a pile of miniature slides. Preserve the decision, evidence and next steps in a readable page.

Prepare the slide brief

Supply the audience, decision to support, time available and approved source material. Ask for a content outline before detailed slide production when the story is still uncertain. Generating PPTX requires compatible tools. Review the original presentation and, when rendering tools are available, inspect slide images for clipping and small text; text extraction alone cannot verify a deck.

Inputs for this workflow: A reviewed deck and the audience’s expected follow-up.

Work through the task

  1. Select the information needed after the talk.
  2. Convert references and action items into a document structure.

A brief you can adapt

Draft a one-page handout with key points, evidence references and next actions. Keep link labels meaningful and exclude presenter-only cues.

The filenames above are examples. Replace them with your actual inputs and destination before submitting the task.

Review the deliverable

Give the handout to someone without the deck and check that it explains the requested next step.

Where this approach can fail

Do not add new commitments merely to make the handout feel complete.
