How do I select an AI tool for one teammate?

Ready-made roles use automatic tool matching. Follow the desktop steps and verify the result.

Ready-made roles use automatic tool matching. Edit a teammate when a particular task needs a specific installed work engine instead of relying on the automatic selection.

Before you begin

A work engine is the CLI process that performs the task. OfficeCubs supplies the task context and records its progress, while authentication, model availability and usage charges come from your chosen provider. Successful detection is a setup check, not proof that every model or task will work.

Steps

  1. Open Teammates and edit the intended employee.
  2. Select the work engine in setup.
  3. Inspect advanced settings for executable, model and interaction mode.

Keep the role separate from the engine

A role describes the job and its instructions; Codex, Claude Code or DeepSeek Harness performs the work. A developer can configure the same role with a different supported engine. The chat user continues to ask the selected teammate through the connected conversation without managing that engine themselves. Test the role again after changing tools; different engines can interpret the same instructions differently.

Example

A team standardizing on one configured CLI can select it explicitly for a role used in repeatable document production.

Check the result

Reopen Overview and confirm the displayed engine before starting a new task.

Limits and troubleshooting

Changing the engine does not convert an old provider session into a session for another tool. Review follow-up behavior after a change.
