Tasks and results

Why is a promised result file missing?

A chat response saying a file is finished does not establish that the file exists.

A chat response saying a file is finished does not establish that the file exists. It may have been saved elsewhere, moved later or never written successfully.

Before you begin

Task status describes execution, not whether the result is factually correct or ready to publish. Keep the original input and inspect the actual output file. Task details, results and execution events provide different evidence; use them together when deciding whether to accept, revise or retry work.

Steps

  1. Inspect Results and the latest execution events.
  2. Check the teammate workspace.
  3. Look for the exact requested filename.
  4. Ask a follow-up naming the destination explicitly.

Example

The summary mentions report.xlsx but Results lists only notes.md. Ask the teammate to create outputs/report.xlsx and verify it opens, rather than accepting the message alone.

Check the result

Open the physical file from the final path and check that its content is the requested format.

Limits and troubleshooting

Renaming a text file to a document extension is not a repair. Missing generation tools must be addressed separately.
