Getting started
Why does OfficeCubs say the office is already open?
The startup lock prevents two app processes from opening the same local office at once.

The startup lock prevents two app processes from opening the same local office at once. This protects the local database and active work from competing desktop instances.
Before you begin
OfficeCubs is a desktop application. The public console manages accounts; it does not run the desktop task engine in your browser. Public signed installers are still marked coming soon on the download page. These instructions apply to an available desktop build, including a build from the project source.
Steps
- Find and quit the other OfficeCubs process normally.
- Wait for its active work to finish or stop it deliberately.
- Reopen the intended application.
Example
For an isolated developer test, launch with OFFICECUBS_DATA_DIR pointing to a separate test directory instead of reusing the normal office.
Check the result
Confirm that only the intended office is open and that its teammates and history appear correctly.
Limits and troubleshooting
Do not delete database files to bypass the lock. The Help entry on the startup error screen remains available while you resolve the conflict.
