Connect WeChat so someone can ask your AI role questions

Configure a teammate on the desktop host, then let the intended WeChat user scan the QR code and ask questions in their private chat.

OfficeCubs connects WeChat to a selected teammate through the WeChat ClawBot channel. A developer prepares the role and its AI tool on the host computer. The intended user then connects their own WeChat account and asks the role questions in a private chat.

Prepare the role on the host

Install and authorize the selected work engine, such as Codex or Claude Code. Create or recruit a teammate, define its working guide, attach the appropriate skills and choose its workspace. Test a simple question in the desktop app before connecting WeChat.

The work engine and its credentials stay configured on the host. The person using WeChat does not need to install the CLI or understand its model settings. Task content may still be processed by the connected AI provider.

Connect the intended user’s account

  1. Open Messaging apps → WeChat in OfficeCubs.
  2. Choose the teammate that should answer and select Show QR code.
  3. Have the intended user scan the code with their own WeChat account and confirm. If WeChat displays a number, enter it in OfficeCubs.
  4. Ask that user to send a message to the bot and then a short, plain-text question.

The account that scans the code is the only account permitted to start work through that connection. If a developer scans with their own account while preparing this for someone else, they have connected themselves, not the intended recipient. WeChat uses this scan-based authorization instead of the pairing codes used by some other providers.

Check a complete question and answer

Use a question with a known answer in the role’s supplied material. Confirm that a task appears for the selected teammate, review its answer and check that the user receives the reply in WeChat. Next, test a question whose answer is missing from the source; the role should explain the gap.

Start with text. The current WeChat adapter also handles supported media and can return a limited number of deliverables, but provider limits apply. Telegram and Slack have different attachment behavior, so do not assume a test in one chat app establishes support in every other app.

Availability and delayed replies

Keep OfficeCubs and the host computer awake and connected. ClawBot availability depends on the provider’s rollout, so some WeChat accounts cannot yet complete the QR flow. The connection screen shows the provider’s error when setup is unavailable.

WeChat restricts when a bot can reply after a user message. If a result finishes outside the available reply window, OfficeCubs retains it for delivery when the user messages again. If the session expires, use Manage connection → Scan again. Group chats are not supported; tool approvals still need the host operator’s attention in OfficeCubs.
