Schedules

How should I name recurring task outputs?

Use filenames that make the reporting period and revision visible.

Use filenames that make the reporting period and revision visible. Without a naming rule, repeated runs can overwrite results or leave indistinguishable copies.

Before you begin

Schedules are executed by the desktop app on your computer. The marketplace server does not take over when your laptop sleeps. Test the underlying task manually before scheduling it, and inspect the next run time in the selected timezone after saving or editing the schedule.

Steps

  1. Choose a date or period convention.
  2. Specify the output directory in the brief.
  3. Decide whether reruns create a revision or replace a draft.
  4. Review the first two runs.

Example

Request outputs/weekly-YYYY-MM-DD.md using the source period’s end date, with a separate note if the run is a revision of an existing report.

Check the result

Check that two reporting periods produce distinguishable files and that a retry does not silently erase an accepted report.

Limits and troubleshooting

A model must still interpret the date rule correctly. Verify names and period boundaries instead of relying only on the task’s completion state.
